In my years of employment, I have treated several veterans in my private practice and while I worked for the Navy. I would like to honor this posting to all present and past military personnel today. I value all that they have experienced in their lives to help us live the way we do. Not until I started treating veterans with PTSD, did I then realize what these military people experienced. When was the last time you sat and talked with someone who was in a war? When was the last time you heard from someone real-time who had to kill someone in order for them the survive in the fields of unknown territories… being shot at from every which direction? When was the last time you heard that person still feel the pain and guilt for having to wound or kill someone in order for themselves to survive? The stories are fascinating and yet we often wait for this special day once a year to honor these individuals. I don’t believe that this day is only to honor those who have lost their lives… but for all those who have served and still do. They did what they needed to do.. they still do… and those who are done with their military careers never feel like they are done… for their memories live on ….. If you are reading this and you are a veteran or active military… I honor your courage and fortitude. If you are reading this and have lost someone from their military service.. I pray for you…If you and family are still suffering from any loss… Take care of yourself… If you are suffering form PTSD… please seek the help you need. Thank You.

There are so many weight loss programs available for people to take advantage of and yet so many people choose to eat potato chips, over indulge on chocolate cakes, and gorge on fried foods just to mention a few… Why do we let ourselves get to such an unhealthy state that by what we eat we have created within ourselves diabetes, hypertension, depression, and on and on….When are we going to say…” Enough!, I need to change my life for the better and get started now! What stops us from making the necessary changes? What are the road blocks?

With my program I will help you first explore by the use of hypnotherapy, what those road blocks are and learn how to control them once and for all. I believe that unless you understand the emotional-intellectual connections about how-and-why you eat…the way you eat… then what you eat will not change.

My program also focuses on building your inner core of ego strength.. to empower you to achieve your goals. The programs also includes designing you a fitness program .. realistically.. one that you believe in and will be willing to follow. And, this program also monitors your eating intake to make sure it is appropriate and is following all the recommended daily requirements to obtain optimum health.

I especially love working with those who have Celiac issues…The food choices are endless though when they are first told they have this gluten allergy they feel like they “can’t eat any goodies” and that is not true..they just need to modify them a little.

Come and get healthy with my Weight Loss Program. Stop the roller coaster ride once and for all with your will power and determination.

Let your mind lead the way.

If interested give me a call…401-241-8368 or email me at ricounseling@msn.com

What do these three concept have in common? How strong is the commitment? How many excuses do you hear yourself say? How much time do you really invest in what it is you say you want to do?

If you don’t feel committed to something that you thought we were committed to, then we will be short with your time and make excuses for not doing what you were committed to do; in the first place.

How often do we place the blame on other’s for not following through with what we sent out to do? Isn’t it easy to put the excuse on someone else?

If you find that you are falling into this trap then take the time to reflect on this and change the pattern…it’s not too late.

Take some deep breaths and recognize that this is happening…now see yourself being respectful to yourself and stop the pattern. See yourself staying committed to what it is you set out to do. Feel proud that you are doing it…. look forward to the continuation of your plan.

I prefer that you move… what do you like to do?How fit are you? What condition is your back? Knees? Hips? Ovaries? Bladder? The heavy the run the more harm you can potential do to these parts of your body and even others.

I suggest that you simple walk and get into power walking… that is walking at a brisk pace with your heart rate beating at your target heart rate for at least 30 minutes. Now that would be an excellent workout on these lovely spring days.

Walking I believe is one the of the best exercises anyone can do whether to aid in fitness or just to relax. Relax as you walk what a concept. Why not?

As you walk think about mediation. What you are viewing as you walk? What are you thinking of as you walk? Take time to think wonderful positive thoughts and enjoy the nature around you. Let your mind enjoy the relaxing exercise as well as your body.

How to figure out your target heart rate range:

Take the number 220

now minus your age

now multiple that number by .60 and by .80

This will be your target heart rate range.

Example. 220-50(age)=170

170 X .60=102 170 X .80=136

This person’s target heart rate range to walk (cardio vacscualar exercies for 30 minutes) is 102-136. Take your pulse before you start walking and 10 minutes into your walk to make sure after your warm-up you are reaching your target heart rate range. Walk in this range for 30 minutes, periodically taking your pulse. Then upon your cool down as you are ending your walk take your pulse every 10 minutes to make sure heart rate is returning back to normal.

Enjoy your walks.

First don’t panic. I am living in this situation as well. The road to my house has been destroyed so I know what it is like to feel trapped. The devastation is unthinkable. More and more roads are being damaged and/or closed. If you have to leave your house please be very cautious. There is no need to take undue risk. Panicking in times like these doesn’t make the situation any better. Control your thoughts. Keep them logical so you and your family can remain safe. Use the telephone to call and ask other’s how they are doing. Walk to your neighbor’s house (only if it is safe) to check on them. If you have been a victim to the water entering your home and see the loss of belongings, understand that they are material possessions that perhaps can be saved. BUT IF NOT… you still have your life and family, and that is what is most important. To loose those items we hold so precious to life is an awful feeling yet again, we need to think logically about these items. Can they be replaced? What is their value? If you do need to throw these items away, I ask you to simple sit quietly for a moment, collect your thoughts and memories about these items before you have to discard them for safety reasons. Also, your adrenaline will kick in and put your body into what is called the fight/flight mode. Be careful… you may find yourself doing more physical activity than your body is conditioned for… you may lift heavy objects that may hurt your back, etc. SO THINK before you ACT>>>>>MY WARM HEART FELT WISHES TO ALL THAT ARE AFFECTED.

Today I write to you about this wonderful word I find is very helpful in our lives … Reflection. Many people use this word as an image, or a representation, or as thought processing; others as being in a state of reflection, mediation, or simply just preforming an observation. How helpful is this word? How many times do you feel rushed in your daily life and don’t even give yourself time to “reflect” on any aspect of your day? How many times before you go to bed each night do you give yourself 3-5 minutes and reflect on what was the best part of your day? Reflection is a peaceful process which I recommend to all to perform each day and at least three times a day… morning, afternoon and just before sleep time. Try to allow yourself some quite time to reflect on what goods feelings, thoughts, and/or behaviors you have had for that morning, afternoon and evening time. Do not judge what you are experiencing … just experience it. Enjoy it! Relax while you are reflecting by taking in some wonderful breathing. Give yourself loving kindness in these few moments of pleasure.
